TEKIOnet: Our Youth Network

TEKIOnet is a global youth networking opportunity that is designed for and by youth of the 21st century and mentored by TEKIO. The network has been created to facilitate and support the development of youth social entrepeneurs and restoration teams. These committed young people carry out innovative ways of providing sustainable education and practices through service, training and the facilitating employment opportunities within the restoration economy.

Tierra Viva / Mexico City

Upon seeing photos of the tsunami devastation, the youth from Tierra Viva knew immediately what they could offer to the restoration process.

Growing up in the chaos of the poverty belts that surround the largest city in the world, they realized at a young age that they had to invent their own future. The Tierra Viva youth (ranging from 13 to 29 years old) formed a collective and embarked on a quest for well being and sustainability. The urban squalor in which they are developing requires perpetual repair and a knack for creative solutions. These skills have made them experts in building a better world despite the odds. For over five years they have been training and doing service to their communities in the areas of: community organizing, organic gardening, permaculture, urban ecology, eco-construction, deep ecology, facilitation and consensus and much more.

The youth projects with which TEKIO collaborates are self-run and autonomous. We encourage you to visit their websites and establish a direct relationship with them. There are many ways you may mentor or collaborate with Tierra Viva.
